Overview

The newest ship of the Sonesta Nile fleet is the Sonesta St. George Nile Cruise, offering 47 deluxe cabins and 10 suites. The Sonesta St George is one of the most elegant ships on the Nile, offering a full-service spa and fitness centre, restaurant, bars, nightly entertainment and guided excursions. Accommodation onboard the Sonesta St George is spacious with 23” LCD TV screens, mini bar, wireless Internet, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, safe, and a bath which is equipped with a spa unit including steam, Jacuzzi and water massage, plus a double glass panoramic French window. The main restaurant is located on the lower deck and offers lavish buffet lunch and breakfasts and in the evenings a full a la carte menu. Guests may also enjoy a cocktail or a fine selection of drinks from the piano bar, lounge bar and sun deck bar. The main bar plays host to nightly live entertainment which includes a belly dance show, Captain’s welcome cocktail party, and fancy dress Galabeya party. Live music is also available in the piano bar. Day 1 Luxor Monday Departure Flight – Luxor. Depart from the UK for Luxor. On arrival check in on board the Sonesta St George 1. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight on board in Luxor. Day 2 Luxor / Edfu Morning visit to the West Bank including the Valley of the Kings, Colossi of Memnon and Temple of Queen Hatsheput. Set sail for Edfu. Spend the afternoon at leisure, free to explore Edfu. Enjoy dinner on board, and spend overnight docked in Edfu. Overnight in Edfu. Day 3 Edfu / Kom Ombo In the morning visit the 2000 year old Temple of Horus, an elongated structure made up of halls and chambers with well-preserved story-telling interior decorations, then continue sailing to Kom Ombo. The afternoon is free to explore the town, whose name means ‘City of Gold’. Spend the night docked in Kom Ombo. Day 4 Kom Ombo / Aswan Sail to Aswan, and upon arrival visit the Aswan High Dam, which stands at 111 metres tall - a major accomplishment in engineering - the Philae Temple and the Granite quarries. Your afternoon is free to explore the delightful bazaars of Aswan. Spend overnight on board in Aswan. Day 5 Aswan Spend the morning at leisure followed by lunch. In the afternoon enjoy a sail in a felucca - a traditional Egyptian Nile sailing boat - around Kitchener’s Island. Spend overnight on board, docked in Aswan. Day 6 Aswan / Esna Set sail to Esna, stopping in Kom Ombo for some further exploration, visiting the temple of the Horus and Sobek. Arrive in Esna late afternoon and spend the night there. Day 7 Esna / Luxor Sail to Luxor, spending the afternoon discovering the East Bank, featuring the famous Karnak and Luxor temples. They may be shadows of their former selves, but as you wander around the vast statues, towering columns and decorated walls, you soon appreciate their original ornate grandeur. Spend overnight docked in Luxor. Day 8 Luxor / UK. Disembark the Sonesta St George 1, before departing Luxor on your return flight to the UK or onto your chosen hotel for a continued stay.
